The inverse of the minimum turning radius is needed in the basic physical data for the configuration of a vehicle.

Application

The inverse of the minimum turning radius is entered under "[inv_min_turnradius]" in the respective .bus or .ovh-file of a vehicle.

Calculation

The inverse of the minimum turning radius is calculated as follows:

Requirements

  • Wheelbase in m of the vehicle to be simulated
  • Turning radius in m from the outer wheel to the outer wheel of the vehicle to be simulated
  • Optional: Windows calculator in scientific view

Procedure

  1. (2 * wheelbase) / turning radius = sin(maximum turning angle of the wheels on the steering axis in °)
  2. tan(maximum turning angle of the wheels on the steering axis in °) / wheelbase
